VOTE YES
FOR ANOTHER 5 YEARS OF BID SUPPORT
BID Renewals
Since the inauguration of Welwyn Garden City BID in 2017, local businesses have consistently shown their confidence in the BID’s work—voting to renew it for two consecutive terms, 2017–2022 and 2022–2027.

Through the BID, businesses have collectively invested in continual improvements to the town centre, including enhanced promotion, business support, placemaking, events, and effective town centre management. This shared commitment helps ensure Welwyn Garden City remains vibrant, welcoming, and economically resilient.

Since 2017, Welwyn Garden City BID has been by the side of local businesses through both the highs and the challenging times, earning awards and recognition along the way. The BID is widely regarded as a leader and influencer, respected at local, regional, and central government levels. Its dedication to best practice, creativity, collaboration, innovation, and transparency is recognised well beyond the town centre.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the BID played a crucial role in supporting the business community through unprecedented challenges. From assisting businesses in securing vital government grants to delivering Welcome Back to Welwyn Garden City initiatives, the BID provided practical support, clear guidance, and hands-on help when it was needed most. These efforts helped businesses navigate uncertainty, reopen safely, and reconnect with customers as restrictions eased.

Together, this work continues to strengthen the town centre, ensuring Welwyn Garden City remains a thriving place to live, work, and visit.

What is a BID Ballot?
Every Business Improvement District (BID) must take part in a formal ballot at the end of each five-year term. This vote gives local businesses the opportunity to decide whether the BID should continue, ensuring its work remains supported, valued, and aligned with the needs of the area.

Welwyn Garden City BID was first established in April 2007 following a successful ballot, and has since completed two consecutive terms: 2017–2022 and our current term, 2022–2027.

In 2026, you—the businesses of Welwyn Garden City—will be asked to vote YES for another five-year BID term, helping us continue to build a bigger, brighter future for our wonderful town centre.
